A couple of covers

Here are a couple of things I found recently on MP3 blogs. I don't know anything about either of these artists, so if anyone can enlighten me, please do. As I found these posted at a couple of the usual sites, I thought there'd be no harm in putting them up here for a week.

Its always fun to hear a good cover. Allison Crowe turns in a nice strong vocal on "Shine A Light". And check out some of the different lyrics in Greg Brown's "Can't Always Get...".

Happy New Year!

I'm happy you're enjoying Allison Crowe's cover of Shine a Light.

And, I'm happy that I can tell you a bit about Allison - and this recording.

I'm Alley's manager, home for a break, and about to plot out 2006.

Allison is a Canadian singer-songwriter, just turned 24 years old. She does plenty of originals - but also has a love for the great songs of such artists as the Stones, Beatles, Janis Joplin, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell+ - along with a range of music she grew up with in the '90s to now.

You'll find mp3s for free download @ http://www.allisoncrowe.com/music.html and http://www.allisoncrowe.com/music2.html

Her version of Shine a Light, a song from Exile that deserves wide listening, was recorded live-off-the-floor, in a single take. (Most of her recordings are live.) She has performed the song solo - voice and piano - but prefers to do it with a band, which lets her rock out some more.

Thanks for sharing it with people!

cheers, Adrian
