Magazine of the Week #35

The November 1981 issue of HIT PARADER obviously went to press before the start of THE ROLLING STONES' 1981 tour, which kicked off in September.

The four-page cover story, "The Rolling Stones: Confessions Of A Fanatic - The Coast-to-Coast Adventures of a Rock & Roll Junkie" by CHARLEY CRESPO tells us that "at press time, a Stones tour has been booked for the late Summer, but delays in the making of the new album, Tattoo You, threaten to postpone the tour".

In "Record Reviews", ROY TRAKIN reviews YOKO ONO's "Season Of Glass" and GEORGE HARRISON's "Somewhere In England". Of the Yoko LP, he says "its grim, unpleasant, and filled with the stench of death. I can't stop listening to it". As for George, he writes that "All Those Years Ago" with its "pitifully desperate attempt to recapture the Beatle flavor is a depressing reminder of how low the "spiritual one" has sunk in his thirst for a hit". Ouch!

Also in the magazine are articles on JOE WALSH, THE ALLMAN BROTHERS, and DAVE DAVIES, plus two pages on "Beatlemania: The Movie".

And, as always with "Hit Parader", words to all the latest hit songs, including "We Can Work It Out" (as recorded by CHAKA KHAN), and THE WHO's "Don't Let Go The Coat".
