Beatle Covers: Hugh Masekela

Perhaps not quite as obscure as HEDGE AND DONNA, here's another recent vinyl find. A double album by HUGH MASEKELA called "24 Karat Hits". Released in October 1968 on Verve Records, it contained tracks from two earlier Masekela LPs, "The Americanization of Ooga Booga" and "Hugh Masekela's Next Album".

Its got an interesting instrumental version of "Norwegian Wood", and a very cool six-and-a-half minute mostly-instrumental version of "If I Needed Someone". Both of the songs were recorded in August 1966 and originally released on "Hugh Masekela's Next Album" in December 1966:
